Privacy Policy

When you order, we collect your name, email, and phone number, the name and address your order ships to, the contents of your order, and anything you write to us with it, such as scoop preferences. At checkout we also record whether you checked the packing-video box, when you answered, and, if you checked it, the first name you gave us for the video. If you later withdraw your OK, we record when, and who on our team recorded it. We use this to process and deliver your order, and for the packing videos described below.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly.

We send transactional email about your order — order confirmations and shipping updates. Those go to the address on the order, and they are not marketing: placing an order does not add you to any mailing list.

Marketing email is separate and entirely optional. We send it only to people who have explicitly chosen to receive it — the choice is never pre-checked, and we keep a dated record of when it was given and of any later change. You can withdraw at any time from your account page, or from the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send. Unsubscribing does not stop the emails about an order you have already placed; we cannot send you a package without telling you.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and apart from the packing videos described below, we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Apart from those videos and the analytics described below, we share information only with the service providers needed to fulfill your order (for example, our payment processor and shipping carriers), and where required by law.

Packing videos: we may film orders placed on our website while we pack them. The camera shows our team and the items we pack. We don't film customers, and we don't film market sales. We post a video of your order on the Magpie & Junebug TikTok account only if you checked the packing-video box at checkout, and we don't post every order. TikTok's own terms apply to anything posted there. A video we post may show your own first name, if you gave it to us for the video, the items in your order, a scoop's size, and what you like and don't in general terms, such as a favorite color. It never shows your last name, anyone else's name, an address, an email, or your order number. It never quotes what you wrote to us, and it leaves out health details and anything about another person, like their age. To withdraw your OK, email magpieandjune@gmail.com with your order number. We won't post a video of your order, and if we already have, we'll take our post down. We can't remove copies other people have made.

Cookies: one of ours remembers what is in your shopping bag (mj_cart) so it survives a page refresh. If you create an account with us, a second one keeps you signed in to it (mj_customer). The remaining two are only ever set for staff signing in to the shop's back office — one keeps them signed in (mj_session), and a short-lived one carries them from an emailed link to the screen where they choose a password (mj_setup); neither of those is ever set for a customer. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not track you across other websites.

Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to our pages, whether or not you buy anything. When a page loads, a small script sends Cloudflare the page you are on, the link or site you came from, your browser, operating system and device type, the country the visit came from, and how long the page took to load. It sets no cookies. We use it to see what people are looking for and to keep the shop fast. We keep our order pages out of it, so an order number is never sent to Cloudflare.

We keep order records as long as needed for business, accounting, and legal purposes, including tax recordkeeping requirements.

Changes to this policy: when we change it in a way that affects you, we post the new version on this page with a new version number and effective date.
